Features: Construction Features: Optional Features: Assembly: This is a brief description of the assembly process,
more detailed instructions will come with your cabin. The first step is to construct a base for the cabin,
we recommend strip foundations made from strips of
concrete as these aid drainage, other options are: a
solid concrete base with drainage channels, sleepers,
sufficiently supported decking, or point foundations
made of flagstones. The base size for this Cabin would
be 2.85m wide by 1.95m deep. This will give a base that
lies in line with the outside edge of the walls, to aid
drainage. The construction of the cabin itself starts with the
bearers, which need to be nailed together. Then assemble
the walls by slotting them together and slotting in the
windows and doors. Slot on the apexes, supplied in one
or two sections, and slot the roof beams onto these.
Nail the roof boards onto the roof beams and nail the
floor boards onto the bearers. Nail roofing felt or
other suitable roofing material (no roofing material is
supplied with the cabin) onto the roof boards and attach
trims around the edge of the roof and the edge of the
floor. Then bolt on the storm protection beams. This is
essentially the building process and should take one day
to lay the base and a further day and a half, to erect
the cabin with two people working on the project. A more
detailed installation manual is provided with the cabin.
All screws, nails needed are provided with the cabin. Note:
The Log Cabin will be delivered on a flat bed van and
you will need to unload it by hand, the driver will
assist with this. The cabin is made from kiln dried
timber and must be covered if it is to be stored outside
prior to construction and treatment. This is to prevent
moisture/rain from warping and rotting the timber,
unless you plan to store the cabin inside, you will need
tarpaulins or similar to provide cover for the wood. |
