The Melrose is ideally suited for many purposes and
is sized to suit most gardens. Constructed from 28mm
thick interlocking log walls and featuring a Double Door
and Double Window it makes a great summerhouse or garden
office as the double door makes moving furniture in and
out simple and the large window lets in a lot of light
to give this cabin an airy feel. The existing window can
be placed on either side of the cabin during
construction and, if desired, additional windows can be
ordered to be put into the other side and/or back wall
of the cabin. The Melrose is available at the
exceptionally low special price of £1345 including
delivery.

Features:
- 2000mm (66) High internal
eaves, giving more interior space. This is the lowest
point inside so youre unlikely to hit your head on
the ceiling unless youre taller than 66.
- Double Door, this gives ease of
access to the Cabin when moving items into and out of
it and also allows more fresh air into the cabin
during summer months if desired.
- Single Window featuring tilt n
turn facility, all of our windows feature a tilt
n turn facility so that you can leave the window
on tilt to let some fresh air in and still have some
security or fully open it.
- 1200mm (4) (approx) overhanging
canopy to the front of the cabin, creates a shady
place ideal for relaxing outside on a sunny day, which
also offers some protection from rain. The canopy can
be cut back during construction quite easily if a
smaller overhang is desired.
-
28mm Thick tongue and grooved interlocking log walls
featuring bevelled notches for ease of assembly and
a better seal when compared to straight cut notches.
-
19mm Thick tongue and grooved roofing and flooring
for a sturdier roof and to prevent bounce in the
floor when walking upon it.
-
Large 80mm x 60mm Pressure treated floor bearers to
prevent fungal decay and damage by insects. The
bearers sit underneath the whole of the cabin so
that everything in contact with the foundation is
pressure treated, unlike some other suppliers
cabins.
-
Heavy duty 134mm x 38mm Roof beams to prevent
sagging, pre-notched to slot onto apexes
-
Pre-assembled, pre-notched apexes for front and back
walls.
-
Top wall section for side walls is cut to the angle
of the roof to aid the nailing down of the roof
boards.
- Storm protection beams are provided
to secure the apex sections to the lower sections of
the wall.
-
All wood is planed, pre-cut (with the exception of
trims), pre-notched pine or spruce to ensure a rapid
and easy assembly.
-
Windows and single doors are pre-hung and
pre-assembled to simply slot into place.
-
Double doors are provided as 6 assembled pieces that
slot together then slot into place.
-
Veranda, gives an ideal seating area to the front of
the cabin. At 4 deep it sits neatly under the
4 canopy of the Cabin. Consists of two banisters
and pressure treated flooring and bearers.
-
Single window, can be placed in any of the walls
except the front.

Assembly:
This is a brief description of the
assembly process, more detailed instructions will come
with your cabin.
The first step is to construct a base for the cabin,
we recommend a solid concrete base, other options are:
strips of concrete, sleepers, sufficiently supported
decking, or point foundations made of flagstones. The
base size for this Cabin would be 3.0m wide by 2.4m deep
(without veranda) or 3.6m deep (with veranda). This will
give a base that lies in line with the outside edge of
the walls, to aid drainage. The roofing material of your
choice can easily be purchased from you local DIY store.
The construction of the cabin itself starts with the
bearers, which need to be nailed together. Then assemble
the interlocking log walls
by slotting them together and slotting in the windows
and doors. Slot on the apexes, supplied in one or two
sections, and slot the roof beams onto these. Nail the
roof boards onto the roof beams and nail the floor
boards onto the bearers. Attach your roofing material
onto the roof boards and attach trims around the edge of
the roof where appropriate and to the edge of the floor.
Then bolt on the storm protection beams. This is
essentially the building process and should take one day
to lay the base and a further day to erect the cabin
with two people working on the project. An installation
manual is provided with the cabin. All screws, nails
needed are provided with the cabin.
Note:
The Log Cabin will be delivered on a flat bed van and
you will need to unload it by hand, the driver will
assist with this. The cabin is made from kiln dried
timber and must be covered if it is to be stored outside
prior to construction and treatment. This is to prevent
moisture/rain from warping and rotting the timber,
unless you plan to store the cabin inside, you will need
tarpaulins or similar to provide cover for the wood.
